REFLECTIONS on Genesis 1-16
"So she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are a God of seeing,” for she said, “Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.” - Genesis 16:13The first couple fell into sin ... God saw them. Cain murdered his brother... God saw him. Mankind drifted into continuous evil ... God saw that. Noah rode the waves of a worldwide flood ... God saw him. Men built a tower to their own glory ... God saw it. Abram moved from place to place ... God saw him. A simple servant girl was abused and on the run ... God saw her.
A new reference for our God ... "Beer-lahai-roi", which means, the well of the One who sees me. As we enter a new year, we won't ever be alone. We will be seen in every encounter, every battle, every mountaintop and every valley. Consider the words of David in Psalm 139:7-10...
"Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me."Be encouraged my friend that He will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) Yet, be most careful and ever prayerful in all your life because ... God sees you.
